To enhance and strengthen existing Bihar State Wide Area Network that would serve as the backbone network for data, video and voice communications throughout the State. The principal objective of the BSWAN 2.0 is to accelerate the growth and use of Information Technology by creating an infrastructure that is used to provide all connectivity and services not only to the Government but also to citizens, over a period of time, rapid narrowing of the digital divide and promoting all pervasive use of IT in all matters of the State.

BSWAN 3.0 will be implemented to provide connectivity up to the block level with integration of voice, data and video services

All Bihar Government applications hosted in the State Data Centre will be connected through BSWAN 3.0 for faster and quicker access to government offices across the state.
